Frequently Asked Questions

What skill level is required to join?

All skill levels are welcome! This is a developmental program focused on learning and having fun.

The practice schedule for my child’s team is not ideal. Can I have him/her changed to a different team?

Unfortunately not. All rosters are established through evaluations and a coach's draft designed to ensure balanced competition. We cannot move players due to practice schedule conflicts.

What does the cost of registration include?

The registration fee covers referee fees, facility rentals, league operations, awards, and a jersey for each player. Players may also need to bring their own basketball.

What basketball size and hoop height does my child use?

  • Grades K-2 (boys & girls): 27.5" ball, 8 ft. hoop
  • Grades 3-6 (and 7-12 girls): 28.5" ball, 10 ft. hoop
  • Grades 7-12 boys: 29.5" ball, 10 ft. hoop

How much will admission be for spectators?

Admission is free for all spectators.

Will there be participation trophies for every player?

No. However, players with straight A’s will receive an academic award. Tournament champions and runner-ups will receive trophies at the end of the season.

How much playing time will my child get in each game?

Every child is guaranteed at least 20 minutes of playing time per game. Bookkeepers will track this. Exceptions may be made in rare cases for disciplinary reasons or injury.

Where can I get Bulverde Basketball League shirts and gear?

T-shirts, hoodies, socks, and other swag items will be available for purchase in our online shop and at games throughout the season.

Is there an app for team info and schedules?

Yes! Download the Crossbar App for Apple or Android to view schedules, rosters, and communicate with coaches and teammates.

Can I request that my child be on a specific coach’s team?

Unfortunately, we do not accept coach requests. All rosters are formed through a draft process. You may reach out to a coach directly, but team assignments are ultimately determined by the draft.

Can my child be placed on a team with a friend for carpooling?

If both players are drafted in the top two rounds, they will play on separate teams. However, we will try to schedule their practices on the same evening.
