Adult League Rules

Our goal is to provide a competitive, organized, and enjoyable league for everyone. Please help us create a great experience by knowing and following these rules.


Game Format

  • Traditional 5-on-5 full-court basketball
  • Two 20-minute running halves
  • Clock stops during:
  • Last 1 minute of the game
  • If a team leads by 15 or more points, the clock will continue to run.
  • Each team receives:
  • 2 timeouts per half
  • 1 timeout during overtime
  • Overtime is 2 minutes with the clock stopping during the final minute.
  • Regular season games may end in a tie after one overtime period.


League Format

  • 5-game regular season
  • Teams are seeded based on regular season standings.
  • All teams advance to a single-elimination playoff tournament.
  • Tie-breakers:
  1. Head-to-head result
  2. Fewest points allowed

Team Rosters

  • Minimum roster: 8 players
  • Maximum roster: 12 players
  • Players must be 18 years or older.
  • Every player must complete the required waiver before participating.
  • Only rostered players are eligible to compete.


Jerseys

  • Matching team jerseys are required.
  • Jerseys must have unique, clearly visible numbers.
  • Duplicate or taped numbers are not permitted.


Game Day

  • Arrive early and check in before every game.
  • Teams should be ready to play at their scheduled start time.
  • Warm-up time may be shortened to keep games on schedule.
  • A team may begin with 4 players.
  • Players arriving late may enter after checking in with the score table.


Fouls & Technicals

  • Standard basketball foul rules apply.
  • Players who foul out are removed from the game.
  • Profanity, taunting, disrespect toward officials, opponents, or staff will not be tolerated.
  • Technical fouls may result in:
  • Free throws and possession for the opposing team
  • Removal from the game
  • Suspensions
  • Additional league discipline

Teams receiving excessive technical fouls during the season may be removed from league play.


Sportsmanship

Respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and spectators is expected at all times.

Unsportsmanlike behavior, including abusive language, fighting, threatening behavior, or excessive arguing, may result in:

  • Technical fouls
  • Ejection
  • Game forfeiture
  • League suspension
  • Removal from future BBL events

Good sportsmanship is expected before, during, and after every game.


Facility Rules

  • Please help keep the gym clean.
  • No hanging on rims or abusing equipment.
  • Children must be supervised at all times.
  • Respect all school and facility policies.


Forfeits

  • Game time is forfeit time.
  • Teams should arrive early and be ready to play.
  • Teams that repeatedly forfeit may be removed from the league without refund.


Final Decisions

League officials reserve the right to interpret rules and make final decisions regarding player eligibility, sportsmanship, discipline, scheduling, and game administration to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all participants.
